Nick Sagar originally established his stunning arete problem Fine Line (originally V12) in 2004. Legend has it, for the next 2 years, a young Ben Smith lived in the gnarly woods of Grover's Cove surviving on squirrel meat to achieve the 4th ascent in the fall of 2006.

Fast forward 12 years.

Ben now has over a dozen of his own first ascents over V10 and Protella has replaced squirrel meat. After a decade of freeze thaws in a damp swamp, Fine Line has suffered significant critical hold breakage. Ben returned to Fine Line this weekend to pay his respects, but was pleasantly surprised. The Fine Line is looking finer than ever. After just one session, Ben is confident that not only does it go for sure, but it's a stellar line that may represent a new standard for hard climbing in Nova Scotia.

A Fine Line indeed.
